The other armies

This is where any of you who don't collect either of the above to find your army. These are all in one group because I just don't know about them so I got a few of my mates to help me with this bit. This section has in it:
I've only got these in the list on the page at the moment, but I am trying to expand it with Armies like Orks, Dark Eldar, Chaos and Sisters of Battle.

Eldar

The Eldar are an ancient race, with technology far more superior to any other race. I do have a small Eldar army of my own, but I don't know enough about them to give them a section of their own, but I hope to as soon as I get used to them.

I think that the best type of army for eldar is one with lots of skimmers. This is mainly because if they fly fast enough, they are harder to blow up. My personal favourites are Shining Spears (the fastest Assault troops in your army and no extra Transport needed), Fire Dragons in a Falcon and Howling Banshees in a Falcon. Speed and Close range hardness. I am actually torn between having a Wraithlord, Dark Reapers or some Wraithgaurd, as using all three wouldn't be very practical. A wraithlord is the Eldars answer to the Imperial Dreadnought. It is Big, can move and fire heavy weapons, and is a bit of a monster in close combat. Dark Reapers are a bit like Space Marine Devestators. Put them on the biggest hill around and then shoot the biggest enemy tank until it blows up. Give your Exarch an Eldar Missile Launcher, Fast Shot Warrior Power so that he can keep up the firing rate. Finally, Wraithgaurds are more like dreadnoughts than infantry, as they are just man sized robots with cool guns, just remember to put a Warlock with them so they don't just stand around doing nothing. The one I normally pick is just by the sort of mood that I am in.

For your Aspect Warrior Squads, always give them an Exarch with one or both of the available Warrior Powers and if you want, upgrade the Exarchs Weapons. Try to support your Aspect Warriors with Guardian Squads with at least 10 men and maybe a Warlock with a handy Psychic Power like Conceal or Enhance. In my opinion, you should always use at least 1 squad of Rangers. Another good tactic is to Place your Heavy Weapons on Wraithlords and War Walkers so your Guardian Squads can fleet of foot their Weapons into the fight. If you are a more risky player, then you could get a Squad of warp Spiders and jump them within 6 inches of an enemy Unit. Then, in the shooting phase, shoot at the unit, hopefully killing a quarter of their number, causing them to panic and maybe break. If they don't break though, you have a choice of two actions;

  1. Assault them, hopefully reducing them below half strength, breaking them and stopping this unit from regrouping in this game, or
  2. Use your warp jump Generators and hope you jump out of assault range and don't lose a Warp Spider in the Warp.

For general transport, I really like to get a Wave Serpent, give it Star engines, fill it with Aspect warriors or wraithguard and warlock, and force march(WD --) it as fast a possible. This gives you a potential of 72" movement range! Thats one move that would get you out of trouble in a hurry.

If you collect a Beil-tan army, and you like aspect warriors, then you could field a Beil-tan Swordwind Army(rules in White Dwarf 236). The main difference is that you can give the Avatar a court of the Young King, which is the Exarchs which have been elected as Young king, but have not been called to awaken the Avatar. I personally think that this defeats the Idea of the Eldar - Lots of Guardians on foot and on Jetbikes, with Aspect Warriors Supporting them.

When using Eldar though, remember this one thing,"Hit them fast and hit them very very hard!"
